Clark Planetarium Community Events

In celebration of 10-years at The Gateway in downtown Salt Lake City, Clark Planetarium is hosting a series of community events between April 4 – April 13.

Art must have wiring on the back in order to be hung.

Thursday, April 4: Youth Art Show
In partnership with Art Access, Clark Planetarium is hosting a space-themed youth art show. There is currently an open call for art from children ages 5-18. The art will be displayed in the Planetarium through the month of April. An opening reception for the artists, their families and the community will be held on 4/4. Get a submission form and find out more.

Friday, April 5: Community Partner Day
Join us from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. for a day of FREE hands-on activities for children and families. Community Partners such as KUED, The Living Planet Aquarium, The Hogle Zoo, NHMU, The Girl Scouts of Utah, and more will be here with fun, science-related activities.

Saturday, April 6: 10-Years of Space Exploration
Clark Planetarium will explore the past and future 10-years of space exploration through a live, narrated show in the Hansen Dome Theatre at 6:45 p.m.. There will be a reception to follow for additional discussion.

Sunday, April 7: Discounted Dome Shows
To encourage the community to explore our wide variety of science shows, we will discount our Hansen Dome Theatre tickets to 2003 prices.

Monday, April 8: Education Day
The Clark Planetarium education department will fill the main exhibit space with science experiments for our visitors to explore space science on a deeper level from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Tuesday, April 9: Food Truck Day
Local Food Truck vendors such as the Chow Truck, So Cupcake, Surefire Pizza, T’s Grill and more will gather outside Clark Planetarium from 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Mall patrons and the Gateway District business community are invited to buy lunch from one of these vendors and eat inside the planetarium. Weather permitting, CP staff will offer science and solar telescope demonstrations.

10-Year Anniversary Gala with Guest Speaker, Phil Plait

Friday, April 12: Community Outreach: West Jordan Library Lecture
Clark Planetarium will take its show on the road to the Viridian Library in West Jordan with a non-Dome version of the 10-Years of Space Exploration Show. This free lecture will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, April 13: Community Outreach: Star Party in Sandy
Clark Planetarium staff will host a star party from 8:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. at the Dimple Dell Recreation Center.
